Remedy Psychiatry Now Also Accepts Insurance – Reducing A Barrier to Accessible Mental Healthcare
Barriers to mental healthcare access, such as affordability and insufficient insurance coverage, are damaging issues that prevent individuals from receiving the care they need. In 2022, 62% of Californians (and 56% of Americans) with a mental illness receive no treatment. An additional 24% had unmet needs for treatment of mental illness. In short, 86% of us aren’t getting the mental health help we need.
Remedy Psychiatry offers affordable mental health medication care options for adults, teens and children who currently reside in the state of California. Founded by Dr. Kirsten Thompson, MD in July 2020, Remedy has been successfully treating thousands of patients online, beginning with an in-depth mental health evaluation, diagnosis, symptom tracking and ongoing medication treatment care for a wide range of psychiatric symptoms including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder and more. From the comfort of home or a preferred space over video – day, night or weekend.
Not taking insurance, or limited insurance coverage, is one of the main causes of lack of care. At Remedy, our mission is to be part of the solution by making a more affordable option for mental health care for those without insurance, and to take insurance for those who have it.
If paying for services at Remedy with insurance, we now accept the following insurance plans: Aetna, Cigna, Optum and United Healthcare, see a full list here: https://remedypsychiatry.com/insurance/
If paying with insurance, we make the process as simple as possible. A new patient will choose their ideal provider and appointment time, book an appointment online on our website and enter their insurance information. After verifying insurance eligibility, patients are notified of any fees associated with the patient’s insurance. Last step, show up for their first video appointment and they are on their way!
If not paying with insurance, we’ve made sure our care is as affordable as possible with a low monthly fee for unlimited appointments. If one’s insurance is not listed, Remedy is then an ‘Out of Network’ provider and we can provide superbill receipts that a client can submit to their insurance plan for possible reimbursement for out of network benefits.
